Hilda was her mother’s first child, but her father’s seventh child, and several more siblings were born after her. The family lived in Cheltenham in a small but fairly facilitated house. She had attended Christ Church Schools during her infant days, and she moved up into the Senior School when she turned six.
She mentioned a tale regarding her eldest son, which indicates that she did get married.
She mentioned Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee and how her patriotic family celebrated it.
She was heavily committed to the Baptist faith, having grown up in a Baptist family. She enjoyed singing and sewing, the latter of which she learned at a young age.
