Born in Whittlesea. Had one brother and at least one sister. Attended the Village School and the Oundle British School. He then attended the Church National School. Attended Sunday School. As a child, he would always look forward to the pig killings, and the harvest.
Married, and had at least one daughter.
His first job was on a farm, to scare the crows. He would also make and sell potato nets. He took upon a few different jobs such as working at a butcher’s, at the doctor’s, printing and book binding, bootmaking, and as a carpenter. He then worked at the Iron Foundry and the County Bank. He also worked as a bricklayer and a journeyman mason.
He liked to swim. Interested in birds. The author joined a band. Enjoyed going to the Fair.
The autobiography describes what growing up in a village was like for the author such as May Day, the beginning of a harvest, etc. The autobiography also mentions many different employments that the author went through.
