He had six siblings (brothers and sisters), with two having died in their infancy.
Attended school until the age of 14.

He was married and had one daughter.

Started working at the age of 14 in the Great Northern Railway, sticking invoices in a book.
He then worked in a solicitor’s office for 48 years, as a Managing Conveyancing Clerk.
In 1914, he enlisted in the first Manchester Pals (16th Battalion Manchester regiment).
After the war, he became a managing clerk.
He retired from the firm of Solicitor’s at the age of 64.

He would often visit a Socialist Café or see a lavish show with his friends.

He received a Meritorious Service Medal for his War service.

The autobiography focuses on the experience of the author going through many different jobs, as well as his service during the War.

The autobiography is typed-written.
